Windows may show a security warning — this is normal
When you download and run the installer, Microsoft SmartScreen may display a blue or red alert saying "Windows protected your PC". This does not mean the app is dangerous. It simply means the installer has not yet accumulated enough download history for Microsoft to automatically mark it as trusted. The app contains no malware, no adware and no bundled software of any kind.
- 1 Click "More info" in the SmartScreen dialog.
- 2 A "Run anyway" button will appear at the bottom.
- 3 Click it to proceed with the installation normally.
Why does this happen? Microsoft assigns a "reputation score" to every executable. New software starts with zero reputation, regardless of whether it is safe or not. As more users download and install the app, SmartScreen's warning will automatically disappear. We are also working on obtaining an official code-signing certificate to eliminate the warning entirely.

Does it require a server or internet account?
No. LMN Site Monitor Desktop is a fully native desktop
application. It runs entirely on your computer — no cloud
account, no subscription and no external server needed.
Monitoring happens directly from your machine.
What are the system requirements?
Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). Around 120 MB of disk space
and a standard internet connection. macOS and Linux versions are
in development and will be released soon.
How are email alerts delivered?
You configure your own SMTP server in the app settings (host,
port, credentials, From name and From email). The app then sends
HTML alert emails directly from your machine. Any SMTP provider
works: Gmail, SendGrid, Mailgun, your hosting provider, etc.
Can I import sites from the LMN Site Monitor WordPress plugin?
Yes. Export your site list as CSV from the WordPress plugin and
import it directly into the desktop app. The CSV format is fully
compatible between both versions.
How does malware scanning work?
Each site can be checked against two malware databases: Google
Safe Browsing and URLhaus (abuse.ch). You need free API keys for
both services, which you can obtain in a few minutes. Once
configured, you can scan on demand or set automatic daily/weekly
scans per site.
